Curitiba, Brazil, September 2nd 2026: Indie game developer and publisher Asteristic Game Studio is proud to announce the upcoming release of Toada Brava, a unique fully hand-drawn 2D turn-based gameplay experience inspired by JRPG classics such as Chrono Trigger®, Super Mario® RPG and Vagrant Story®. Set in a fantastical land inspired by Latin American geography and culture, Toada Brava challenges you to battle your way through the Santacrúz Dungeons on an exciting rescue mission and a quest to aid the revolution! Toada Brava is currently in development and the playable demo already available on PC via STEAM™ is massively popular, and offers a superb taste of what the finished game will aim to achieve.
Toada Brava features Kako living a simple and quiet life with his mom, Matilda, until one day the notorious Duke of Santacrúz went to their land and said he was going to use it for gold extraction! This upset Matilda so much that she punched the duke right in the kisser, getting her arrested and sent to the Santacrúz Prison Complex. Kako, our protagonist hero, tried to invade the duke’s property to save his mom, but got captured too, and sent to a cold jail cell. What a nightmare! Your task playing as Kako is to escape from the horrid Santacrúz Dungeon and to rescue your mom with the aid of a ragtag team of heroes!
Toada Brava offers turn-based combat with timing mechanics. You must fight with, and against, rioting prisoners, defeat military forces in the pocket of gold mining Duke of Santacrúz, and unearth long forgotten secrets of the aristocrat’s powers. But alas, the Duke of Santacrúz holds power beyond what any mortal should possess, and you must piece together the mystery behind his supernatural abilities as you fight your way to freedom. To succeed, you must team up with other prisoners, fight a multitude of different enemies and search for your mother and a way out of this dump!
